About the golf
Dumbéa Golf Course is the oldest in New Caledonia, opened in 1980.
It is a parkland course, laid out in the middle of a forest of ironwood, niaouli, jamun, kauri, various coconut palms, hibiscus and other trees native to the region. The fairways follow the natural flow of the Dumbéa River, with long holes and narrow, slightly rolling greens. Golfers find this course to be very playable, with many natural obstacles like rivers and big trees.
The elevated tee for Hole 11, a small par 3, overlooks the back nine and offers panoramic views of Mounts Koghi and Dzumac.
Hole 17 is one of the longest, most difficult par 5s in the Pacific, with its 560-metre fairway, its dogleg, its small lake and its river to cross.
In terms of play, it is accessible for golfers of any level, from beginners to pros, with tee areas arranged to suit their different needs. You will appreciate this technical course, whether you are moving around on foot or by golf cart. For more experienced players, a powerful tee-off and a strong short game will help you achieve a good score.
HISTORY
This course was designed and built in the early 1980s by Robert Green, an Australian architect.
